Darrell has started work as a Software Engineer on the 1st of February. This a big change, as they used to work in sales. Darrell says Scrimba has played an important role although they are not yet through the career path.
It sounds like he has time to learn on the new job, which is awesome. Itโs great when a company offers that!
Don't forget to check out our Scrimba student success page for more inspirational tales!
Anyone can create a code review in response to a project posted in the #๐code-reviews channel, but only Pro members can request one.
This weekโs Code Review of the Week is by Natalia! you can check it out here.
To learn how to submit a code review, check out this scrim by Instructor Guil Hernandez!
Letโs highlight some of the work that our Scrimba community members have completed!

Community member Mykalimba has sought out to create a Connect 4 clone!
He says the incentive for working on this project was a discussion in the #general channel in the Scrimba Discord in mid-January. There were two opposing schools of thought: one was that React was absolutely necessary to create such an application, the other was that it was completely possible to achieve the same results in vanilla HTML/CSS/JS.
Mykalimba set out to demonstrate how the game could be built using plain HTML, CSS & JavaScript. Here are a few key takeways:
โ๏ธ The project is built from scratch, with plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript
โ๏ธ The gameboard is built dynamically, using DOM manipulation techniques similar to what is taught in early modules of the Frontend Career Path course
โ๏ธ For the gameplay scripting and implementation of CSS animations, he drew on his experience as a career game developer.
โ๏ธ The current version does what he set out to accomplish, which is to demonstrate the ability of a vanilla CSS & JavaScript page to effectively animate game pieces in an application like this.
He hopes to iterate on this project in the future to include an improved UX/UI appearance, refactored game state code, the addition of an AI opponent, and adding the ability to play against a remote opponent!
In the meantime, check out the live deployment here!
What have you built this week? Share it with us in the ๐ทi-built-this channel!

Meet Trecia Kat ๐ฟ๐ฆ! Trecia is a new developer from South Africa who originally wanted to work in healthcare. She eventually decided to study IT, but she dropped out of college when it turned out that online resources were better! Today sheโs a front-end developer. She got her feet wet in the world of Developer Advocacy, she beat her social anxiety, and she even spoke at a conference!
โIn this episode, youโll learn why passion doesnโt mean youโll be great at something - and how to recognize what you can actually be great at. Trecia tells us how she learned to code, overcame her fear of interacting with people she doesnโt know, and landed her first developer job. Twitter was essential for Treciaโs journey - she will teach you how to use it to get out of your comfort zone and what Tech Twitter tropes to ignore. You will also hear about Treciaโs DevRel internship at Strapi and how she ended up speaking at a conference by trying not to speak at a conference.

They will look at:
๐ฐ๏ธ Rendering and styling the timeline
๐ฐ๏ธ Displaying and expanding information on the timeline
๐ฐ๏ธ Adding data
๐ฐ๏ธ Removing data
