Hello [FIRST NAME GOES HERE] ๐
Happy November! ๐
A new month means new goals, new mindset, new focus, new intentions, and new results.
There are a LOT of awesome things to cover for this week, so let's get into it...
๐ฅ New Hires: Ivan and Ben!
๐ฅ Code Review of the Week: Felicity!
๐ฅ I Built This: Yooshi - Designed and developed by Leo.
๐ฅ Fab Resource: Beginnerโs Guide to Web Animationโ

We hold a public Town Hall event on Discord every Tuesday, in which we share successes from the community and answer your coding, career, and Scrimba questions!
Hereโs a summary of this weekโs discussion:
๐คช๐ฐ๏ธ Time zone confusionโฆ and to help developers with time zone confusionโฆ Time APIs! โณTemporal and โณLuxon.โ
โTeam question: What code learning resource has been impactful for you? Read everyoneโs answers here!โ
โ#๐code-reviews channel: We want as many people as possible to get code reviews while studying the Career Path. We encourage recorded code reviews, as this makes the learning experience 10x!
All recorded code reviews will also be entered into our Weekly Code Review competition, and could win a 6-month Scrimba Pro gift card! ๐
Look out for the #๐ซtownhall Stage channel on Discord every Tuesday! ๐

This week, there are two new Scrimba Team Members!
Daniel is our new Design Lead and is currently working on the Scrimba progression UX!
Rafid is the latest addition to our teaching team. He has been working on new solo projects for Scrimba students. Here is his first one, itโs very cool!
To learn more about Rafid and his background, check out his About Me video here.
Letโs highlight some of the work that our Scrimba community members have completed!
Leo has an awesome project to share with us this week! He created this sushi restaurant site with React and has learned so much as a result.
One trick Leo learned is how to use global parameters in CSS, and call them with the var() method! This is helpful when you have a lot of styles that are consistent within your site and want to avoid hardcoding them into each use case.
Check out the live deployment hereโ
Curious about how he built this? Check out his repository hereโ
We love to see our community members engage with one another. One way we encourage this is to participate in Code Reviews! Code reviews provide valuable learning opportunities, and can give you an alternative view on how to solve problems.
Anyone can create a code review in response to a project posted in the #๐code-reviews channel, but only Pro members can request one.
To make this even more enticing, we are going to choose a โCode Review of the Weekโ. The winner will be announced at every town hall ๐ meeting, and will get six months of Scrimba pro for free! ๐ซ
This weekโs Code Review of the Week is by Felicity! You can check it out here.
To learn how to submit a code review, check out this instructional scrim by Scrimba Instructor Guil Hernandez!
Big congratulations to all the Scrimba students whoโve landed jobs this week! ๐ฅณ ๐
Ivan has been hired as a React Native developer. His approach to the job hunt was local networking! Congratulations Ivan, and best of luck!
With the help of his uni degree and the Scrimba Career Path, Ben started a new career as a junior Software Engineer as of November 1st! His offer was sent two months after he had initially applied and completed a take-home assessment. This goes to show that persistence is key! ๐๏ธ
The #i-got-hired channel on our Discord server also contains stories of good news from this weekโs new hires - head on over there to read them all! ๐

Animations can add more depth to your projects, and keep the userโs attention! ๐ However, coding them from scratch can be intimidating.
Chloe Hwang, a former Front-End Developer, has written a Beginnerโs Guide to Web Animation to help us make the impossible POSSIBLE. ๐ช
This three-part guide goes over animations using CSS, JS, and SVGs!
On November 16th, Scrimba Designer Roku joins us to share his top design, UI, and UX knowledge to help developers. We'll talk about:

Meet Rรญan Errity ๐ฎ๐ช! Heโs a Scrimba student who started learning to code as a child. Today, he studies Computer Science and Language, a study program that marries his interest in linguistics with his passion for computing. ๐ค He has also recently completed an internship with Microsoft!
โIn this interview, Rรญan talks about his love for computers, growing up with Linux, how he ended up choosing his study program (hint: there was YouTube involved), and whether he actually needs a CS degree. Alex and Rรญan discuss what self-taught developers might be missing out on compared to developers who are learning to code at a university and what universities could learn from bootcamps and online platforms like Scrimba. Youโll also hear all about Rรญanโs internship at Microsoft and learn about his journey from Dublin, where he was competing with 16.000 candidates ๐คฏ, to former Skype offices in Tallinn, Estonia!
This episode is jam-packed with actionable advice, but it also brings you an exciting story brimming with enthusiasm!
